Abstract
The movie ¡¯Peppermint¡¯ has a structure similar to psychotherapy in that it runs from present to past, and relate present facts to past events. During that process we can see the hidden psychopathology and the immature defense mechanisms of the protagonist, and eventually we can find out the true-self of the protagonist. The message of this movie is alienation and cutting off from the society, family and eventually from one¡¯s true-self. This movie describes about sado-masochism and identity problem, which reflect not only present problems of our society but also main problems of director. But this movie has a spiral structure which can visualize the hope and the possibility of reconscillation with the past and the hidden self, and in that point it can have the therapeutic power.
